Shipmates,
Bravo Zulu to Sub Vet Dave Violette, Kap(SS) 4 Kid(SS) Chairman of the Carolina Piedmont Base, for getting his base's K4K Program back up and running and coming up with a Brilliant idea to enhance a Childs Honorary Submariner experience.
During a visit to Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC, in addition to other K4K gifts, his K4K Team, which included John McHugh, Vice Commander Carolina Piedmont Base, gave each Kid their choice of Honorary Submariner Teddy Bears. They were a "Really Big Child Pleaser"!
They then set things up such that if the Child would name their bear they would also make the bear an Honorary Submariner, so that the Child would always have a Honorary Submariner shipmate for life to help them through life's challenges!
This is a Brilliant idea that elevates the spirits of young patients who are facing medical challenges, instilling a sense of adventure and camaraderie during their treatment. By incorporating elements of naval tradition and the esteemed culture of Submariners, this not only brings joy but also offers a distinctive avenue for engaging children’s imaginations during difficult times.
