Subject: USSVI 2004 Scholarship Awards Announcement Date: 31 July 2004 From: Paul Orstad, Chairman Scholarship Committee The USSVI Scholarship Committee would like to announce our selections for the 2004 USSVI Scholarships. This year for the first time we are honoring Three Bases and One Club for their annual contributions to the scholarship fund. they are Groton, Bremerton and Perch Bases and the Submarine Officers Wives' Club of Pearl Harbor. They are being honored with awards being named after them. Groton and Perch will have two awards and others with one award. Bremerton Base will be known as the "Willie Spoon Memorial Scholarship" and Perch base known as "Gary Patterson Memorial Scholarship." There are three scholarship in each group worth $1000 each and the remaining are $750 each. All will be listed in alphabetical order. Congratulations to all the winners. Most of the checks will be in the mail next week after I receive them for distribution. Several will be presented by those bases who have been contacted and are sending me their replies. ---
